Recommended Listening

I have frequently been asked to recommend recordings that incorporate contemporary sensibilities and unusual combinations of styles.  I feel that the artists mentioned in the categories below represent pioneering and progressive techniques that provide a compelling adjunct to any modern student of music. These recordings are drawn from the last forty years and are generally not found in mainstream media and learning institutions.
